Tururi de oraș

The guided tour through the city of Cluj-Napoca is an invitation to discover the story of the “Heart” of Transylvania, offering you the opportunity to explore the fascinating history, the beautiful architecture, but also the well-known tourist attractions of the city. Following the stories and legends that bring the city to life, we will recreate the medieval atmosphere of the old fortress.

Our route will cover the history of Cluj, also known as the “Treasure City” of Transylvania, from the time of the Romans to the present day. We will highlight its evolution from the ruins of the Roman city of Napoca, which can be seen as evidence in Unirii Square, to the old citadel of Cluj which mysteriously reveals itself in a small bohemian square, near which, at a distance of about a century, in two neighboring houses, two kings were born: Matthias Corvin and Stephen Bocskai.

The second medieval perimeter will tell us the stories of the most beautiful palaces of our city and the stories of the noble families who built them or lived here (Bánffy, Rhédey, Josika, Wass and others). These palaces are surrounding an impressive Gothic-style church: the architectural and spiritual heritage of St. Michael’s Church.

Walking through medieval legends, our steps lead us to the romantic Kogalniceanu street, which reveals a history of more than 500 years: the University of Cluj, the Reformed Church, the Tailors’ Tower. Not far away, leaving behind the second fortified enclosure, imposing buildings, with an impressive architecture, will tell us their stories: the Cluj National Theater, the contemporary Orthodox Cathedral and an important page of Romanian history, Avram Iancu Square – the place where legends are ending and a new story of the city begins.
